About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate, skilled caregiver for a woman in her 60s living with ALS in Holland Landing. She was diagnosed in July 2024, and her condition has progressed quickly over the past six weeks. She now uses a wheelchair full-time and requires deep assistance with all transfers. Her mobility is significantly limited—she cannot lift her arm past her elbow and has very restricted range of motion. Despite these challenges, she remains at home with robust support from her husband, sister, best friend, and daughter, who are all actively involved in her care. The home is well-equipped with two Sara Stedy lifts, rolling commodes, a hospital bed on the main floor, an accessible recliner, and a stair lift to access the second-floor shower.

Responsibilities:

- Assist with all transfers using Sara Stedy lift (wheelchair to commode, bed to chair, etc.)
- Provide full support with personal hygiene, including toileting, grooming, and dressing
- Help with bathing—either full showers upstairs (2-3 times per week) or basin baths at the kitchen sink
- Prepare and serve meals; provide feeding assistance as needed
- Administer medication reminders and assistance
- Light housekeeping, including laundry and tidying
- Supervise for safety and provide cognitive support as needed
- Communicate clearly with family members about daily care and any changes

What We're Looking For:

- Experience with ALS or progressive neurological conditions
- Strong skills in mobility assistance, transfers, and lift operation
- Comfortable with personal care,



including toileting and bathing support
- Reliable, consistent, and excellent communicator
- Warm, patient, and able to make the client feel comfortable and respected
- English-speaking
- Able to work independently while collaborating with family caregivers

Schedule:

We're looking for someone to provide care 2-3 times per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday preferred) during the midday hours—ideally 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM or 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Each visit will be 3 hours. The family is flexible and can adjust timing to fit the right caregiver. Start date is within the next two weeks.
