Cinnabar Valley Farms is a family-owned soil manufacturing and agricultural supply company based in Nanaimo, BC. We produce high-quality soils, composts, and gardening products that are distributed throughout Vancouver Island and Western Canada.

We are currently looking for a reliable and experienced Forklift Operator to join our yard operations team. This role is responsible for loading trucks, organizing the yard, and ensuring outbound loads are properly balanced and compliant with provincial transport regulations.

This is a hands-on outdoor position on a working soil farm. The work environment includes mud, dirt, dust, and changing weather conditions typical of Vancouver Island.

Key Responsibilities

- Load and unload trucks using a forklift in a safe and efficient manner
- Accurately stage and prepare orders for shipment
- Ensure loads are properly balanced and distributed to meet commercial truck weight requirements
- Apply practical understanding of axle weight distribution and loading practices consistent with CVSE (Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement) regulations
- Work with drivers and shipping staff to ensure trucks leave the yard safe, compliant, and efficiently loaded
- Organize yard inventory including pallets, bulk materials, and finished goods
- Maintain clear and organized loading areas to ensure smooth truck traffic flow
- Perform daily forklift inspections and basic equipment care
- Maintain safe operating practices around heavy equipment and truck traffic




- Assist with general yard organization and material movement when required

Work Environment

This role is primarily outdoors in a soil production and agricultural yard environment.

Employees should be comfortable working in:

- Mud, dirt, and dusty conditions
- Rain and cold weather are typical of Vancouver Island
- A busy yard with forklifts, loaders, and commercial truck traffic
- A physically active job that requires climbing on and off equipment and moving around the yard throughout the day

Qualifications

- Proven experience operating a forklift in an industrial yard or warehouse environment
- Experience loading commercial trucks and understanding proper load balance
- Familiarity with axle weight distribution and CVSE truck weight compliance requirements
- Strong attention to detail when preparing and loading orders
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors year-round
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Good communication with drivers and team members

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
