We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized Claims Adjuster to join our growing team. This role is ideal for individuals who are beginning their career in claims adjusting and are working toward obtaining their CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional) designation and/or provincial adjusting licenses.
The Claims Adjuster will support the investigation, evaluation, documentation, and resolution of insurance claims while maintaining accurate claim files and delivering excellent customer service. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to manage a high volume of claims, attention to detail, and confidence working across multiple systems and software platforms.
Location: Canada (Flexible Work Arrangement) Remote | Hybrid | In-Office
Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000 CAD annually
- Investigate and assess insurance claims through telephone and desktop-based investigations.
- Review claim documentation, reports, photographs, estimates, and other supporting materials.
- Maintain organized and accurate claim files, ensuring all activities, communications, reserves, and documentation are updated promptly.
- Manage a high-volume caseload while ensuring timelines and service standards are met.
- Analyze information to determine coverage, liability, and claim outcomes under supervision and within delegated authority.
- Assist with settlement negotiations and claim resolutions as appropriate.
- Identify potential subrogation and recovery opportunities.
- Provide timely updates to policyholders, claimants, clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Accurately manage billing, expense recording, and timekeeping activities.
- Build and maintain positive relationships through professional and responsive customer service.
- Utilize multiple software platforms and claims management systems efficiently to support daily operations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in insurance, claims administration, customer service, or a related field.
- Post-secondary education in Insurance, Business, Risk Management, or a related discipline preferred.
- Currently pursuing or willing to pursue a Chartered Insurance Skilled (CIP) designation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain multiple provincial adjuster licenses as required.
- Basic knowledge of insurance claims handling principles and investigation processes.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage a high-volume workload.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to learn and navigate multiple computer programs and claims management systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a claims, insurance, or adjusting environment.
- Exposure to property, auto physical damage, or commercial claims.
- Knowledge of first-party and third-party claims handling.
- CIP coursework in progress or completed.
- Bilingual in English and French is considered a strong asset.
