Position: Radius Operator – Steel Manufacturing

Location: Pembroke, Ontario
Pay Rate: $20.00 – $25.00/hour (based on experience)
Shift: Morning shift (starts 6:00 AM, 8–10 hour shifts)

One of our clients is seeking a safety-focused Radius Operator to join a rebar fabrication team in a fast-paced steel manufacturing workplace. This role involves operating heavy equipment and/or steel fabrication machinery to bend, position, and shape structural steel components according to engineering drawings and production requirements.

Depending on assignment, the role may focus on either crane operations for safe load handling and positioning or the operation of steel fabrication equipment such as rebar benders, rollers, and press-forming machines.

Responsibilities

· Operate cranes or heavy equipment to safely control load movement, swing radius, and placement

· Set up, adjust, and operate steel fabrication machinery (rebar benders, rollers, press machines, etc.)

· Accurately bend, shape, and position steel components according to blueprints and specifications

· Interpret work orders, technical drawings, and production instructions

· Ensure safe load handling practices, maintaining proper radius clearance and compliance with lifting limits





· Perform pre-operation inspections and report any mechanical or safety concerns

· Conduct routine equipment checks and assist with basic maintenance as required

· Load, unload, and transport steel materials safely (up to 50 lbs)

· Support production goals and assist team members with general fabrication or yard duties

· Follow all workplace safety procedures and applicable provincial regulations at all times

Qualifications

· 1–3 years of experience in heavy equipment operation, crane operation, or steel fabrication (preferred)

· Experience with rebar bending, structural steel handling, or industrial machinery is an asset

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings

· Strong understanding of load handling principles, radius control, and safe material movement

· Commitment to workplace safety (IHSA compliance preferred)

· Familiarity with CISC steel fabrication standards is an asset

· Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift up to 50 lbs

· Strong attention to detail and situational awareness

· Relevant certifications (crane operator ticket, mobile equipment certification, or trade certification) considered strong assets

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
