About the Role:
This role will be working closely within our Human Relations Team, coordinating staffing, recruitment, hiring, and delivering a positive, engaging onboarding experience for new employees within our Durham Region Programs. This role will work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. During the first 6 months of employment, this role will work predominantly out of our Peterborough and CKL offices.
Some Accountabilities associated with the role include:
Recruitment
- Post and maintain job openings across job boards, organizational websites, and social media platforms.
- Review applications and conduct interviews with teams.
- Schedule interviews and coordinate communication with applicants and program leads.
- Maintain accurate recruitment records.
- Support community involvement and relationship building through career fairs, hiring agencies, and post-secondary institutions.
- Prepare offer letters and support the pre-employment process.
Hiring and Onboarding
- Work in collaboration with the Human Relations Team and Program Leads to support a positive and welcoming onboarding experience.
- Coordinate onboarding requirements for new hires.
- Prepare onboarding schedules and new hire documentation.
- Support the completion of required employment forms and compliance documents.
- Serve as a point of contact for recent employees during their onboarding period.
Administration
- Maintain employee files and HR records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Support HR reporting and recruitment tracking.
- Ensure compliance with CELC policies and procedures, the Ministry of Education, and the Ontario Employment Standards Act.
- Provide general administrative support to employees.
Collaborative Leadership
- Building connections and relationships within our programs and teams.
- Following and living into Compass ELC mission, vision, values, and policies.
- Working alongside the rest of the Human Relations team, supporting with ongoing projects and participating in team meetings.
- Continuing to partake in professional learning opportunities.
- Bringing a Diversity, Equality and Inclusion lens to all HR practices.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Relevant post-secondary education (e.g., diploma, degree, certificate)
- CHRP or CHRL designation is valued but not required
- Updated and Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Compliance with all requirements, regulations, and policies mandated by the CCEYA, Ministry of Labour, and/or Compass Early Learning and Care
- Ongoing commitment to lifelong learning for yourself and others.
- Access to reliable transportation to regularly visit CELC Programs.
