Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Representative

We are seeking an experienced HSE Representative to support a construction project at Musselwhite Mine in Northern Ontario.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the HSE Representative will provide hands-on safety leadership and support to employees, supervisors, contractors, and project management. This is a field-focused position requiring regular interaction with crews, a visible presence throughout the worksite, and active involvement in project planning and daily operations.

The successful candidate will help strengthen a positive safety culture through coaching, inspections, training, hazard identification, regulatory guidance, and consistent follow-up.

Work Schedule and Location

- Musselwhite Mine, Northern Ontario
- 14 days on/14 days off rotation
- 12 hour shifts
- Camp accommodations provided
- Travel to and from the project is required
- Work may take place in remote and isolated areas

Primary Responsibilities

- Maintain a regular and visible safety presence throughout the project site.
- Work closely with supervisors and crews to identify hazards and establish appropriate controls before work begins.
- Review job hazard analyses, field level risk assessments, and other task specific safety documentation.
- Conduct workplace inspections, safety observations, and project safety assessments.
- Communicate safe work practices and provide constructive feedback when unsafe conditions or behaviours are identified.




- Track identified deficiencies and confirm that corrective actions are completed and effective.
- Coach and mentor employees and supervisors on their health and safety responsibilities.
- Deliver daily safety talks, orientations, and required project specific training.
- Confirm that employees, contractors, and visitors understand site rules and safety expectations.
- Maintain accurate and complete project HSE records and documentation.
- Coordinate and facilitate weekly safety meetings and improvement discussions.
- Monitor contractor activities for compliance with company requirements, client expectations, and applicable legislation.
- Participate in project planning and review proposed construction methods from a health and safety perspective.
- Help plan high-risk work, including lifting operations, work at height, electrical energization, testing, and similar critical activities.
- Coordinate safety related plans and activities with contractors and project stakeholders.
- Participate in incident investigations and assist with identifying causes and preventative actions.
- Communicate changes to safety procedures, regulatory requirements, and project expectations.
- Attend client and project HSE meetings as required.
- Research and interpret applicable occupational health and safety, construction, and mining requirements.




- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of company HSE programs, procedures, and initiatives.
- Perform additional HSE related duties assigned by the HSE Manager or Project Manager.

Required Qualifications and Experience

- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation.
- Previous occupational health and safety experience within the construction industry.
- Industrial construction or mining experience is considered a strong asset.
- Working knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation, mining requirements, and recognized industry practices.
- Incident investigation training and practical investigation experience.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Ability and willingness to work a rotational schedule in a remote location.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Pay: Up to $37.10 per hour

Expected hours: 84.0 per week
