The Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth (CBFY) is a youth-centered and family-focused non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the well-being of newcomer children, youth and families. For over 30 years, CBFY has fostered a welcoming and inclusive environment for newcomers by enriching them with the appropriate skills, information, knowledge and experience as they build a life in Canada. Since 1990, we have proudly helped tens of thousands of immigrant and refugee families settle in Calgary.

Do you enjoy working with youth and creating programs where they feel included, supported, and connected?

As a Youth Worker, you’ll work with newcomer, racialized, and vulnerable youth through engaging educational, recreational, cultural, and social-emotional programs in schools and the community.

Who Will You Work With?

You’ll be part of the Youth Programs Team and collaborate with schools, families, community partners, and other CBFY professionals.

Following CBFY’s Hug Model, youth are at the centre of program planning and decision-making. Programs are delivered in schools and community locations within designated NNESST teams.

Reports to: Program Team Lead

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and deliver engaging, culturally responsive programs for newcomer and diverse youth.
- Build positive relationships with youth and promote participation, inclusion, leadership, and belonging.
- Support youth settlement, integration, social-emotional well-being, and access to resources.
- Collaborate with schools, families, CBFY staff,



and community partners to meet youth needs.
- Develop and facilitate workshops, lunchtime/after-school programs, field trips, summer camps, and special events.
- Coordinate program schedules, registration, attendance, resources, and logistics.
- Gather youth feedback and support program evaluation and continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client and program records.
- Complete required data entry, reports, evaluations, and documentation.
- Follow CBFY and school policies, safety standards, and incident-reporting procedures.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, agency initiatives, and community activities.
- Stay informed about newcomer youth needs, settlement trends, community resources, and best practices.

The duties and responsibilities outlined above are representative but not all-inclusive. Other related duties as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Degree or diploma in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Education, International Relations, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of related experience, preferably working with children, youth, newcomers, or diverse communities.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Experience working with people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Knowledge of newcomer settlement and integration issues.
- Strong relationship-building, communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and client management systems.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
