We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to support our Project Management team
POSITION SUMMARY
The Construction Project Manager will take ownership of the planning, financial performance, and successful execution of assigned projects — balancing the big picture with the day-to-day realities of the field. You will work closely with leadership, superintendents, field crews, clients, and subcontractors to take projects from turnover through to closeout.
This position works under the supervision of senior leadership and offers growth potential within the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Planning & Execution
- Lead the planning and execution of assigned construction projects from project turnover through to closeout.
- Review project estimates, contracts, drawings, specifications, schedules, and other contract documents to develop a thorough understanding of project requirements.
- Work with superintendents, foreperson, and field teams to develop practical project execution plans and construction schedules.
- Coordinate labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors, suppliers, and other resources required for successful project delivery.
- Monitor project progress and identify potential scheduling, productivity, quality, safety, or cost issues before they become significant problems.
- Coordinate project startup requirements, including project handover, work planning, procurement, mobilization, permits, documentation, and other required project controls.
- Work closely with field teams to resolve construction challenges and maintain productive, efficient operations.
Financial Management & Cost Control
- Take responsibility for the financial performance of assigned projects.
- Develop and maintain project budgets, cost forecasts, and cash-flow requirements.
- Monitor job costs, labour productivity, equipment costs, materials, subcontractors, and other project expenditures.
- Regularly review project performance against budgets and forecasts and report on significant variances.
- Identify opportunities to improve project efficiency and profitability.
- Support progress billings, invoicing, holdbacks, and other financial documentation.
- Coordinate with accounting and management to ensure accurate and timely project reporting.
- Participate in project closeout and final cost reviews and provide feedback to estimating and management to support continuous improvement.
Contracts, Changes & Risk Management
- Review and administer construction contracts and project requirements.
- Identify, document, price, negotiate, and track changes, extras, delays, and other events that may impact project cost or schedule.
- Ensure appropriate notices, documentation, correspondence, and records are maintained to protect the company's contractual position.
- Manage RFIs, site instructions, change directives, change orders, submittals, and other project documentation.
- Identify project risks early and develop practical strategies to mitigate them.
- Support the resolution of project disputes and claims while maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Work with management to protect project margins and ensure contractual obligations are understood and met.
Client, Consultant & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, engineers, owners, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Represent Hil-Tech professionally and communicate project progress, issues, risks, and solutions clearly.
- Chair and participate in project meetings and ensure appropriate action items and follow-up are completed.
- Maintain regular communication with project stakeholders to manage expectations and resolve issues proactively.
- Support the development of long-term client and industry relationships.
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide strong, practical leadership to project teams.
- Work collaboratively with superintendents, fore, crews, estimating, accounting, safety, and company management.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
- Respect and support the expertise of field leadership while ensuring projects remain aligned with overall cost, schedule, quality, and client objectives.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Demonstrate visible leadership and commitment to health, safety, environmental protection, and quality.
- Ensure projects are executed in accordance with company safety requirements, applicable legislation, contract documents, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure appropriate quality-control processes and documentation are in place.
- Work with the project team to address quality, safety, and environmental issues promptly and effectively.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 5+ years of progressive construction project management experience, with real ownership of cost, schedule, and quality
- Experience in industrial, commercial, civil, or heavy construction
- Strong background in job costing, scheduling, contract administration, change management, and procurement
- Proven leadership working with superintendents, forepersons, and trades
- Strong written, verbal, and computer skills (MS Office, construction/PM software)
- ● Valid Class 5 licence and ability to travel to project sites
- A diploma/degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is an asset — equivalent experience will be strongly considered
- Experience with CCDC contracts, MMCD specs, mining, or major civil/industrial projects is an asset

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
