Generator Technician – Portable Power

We are currently seeking an experienced Generator Technician to join our team in Oakville. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically strong technician with experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining portable generators and power equipment.

The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining a reliable rental fleet and ensuring equipment is safe, fully operational, and ready for customers. This position offers a combination of shop-based repairs and field service, depending on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain portable power equipment and generators.
- Service and repair diesel, gasoline, and LP generators and related electrical equipment.
- Inspect, test, and prepare equipment to ensure it is rental-ready and meets established quality and safety standards.
- Follow service checklists, procedures, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Read and interpret owner's manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Operate and test generators and equipment under actual operating conditions whenever possible.
- Diagnose equipment issues and provide technical guidance to other Service Technicians when required.
- Assist with determining whether equipment should be repaired, replaced, or retired.
- Maintain solid product knowledge and provide customers with guidance regarding equipment operation, safety, features, and accessories.
- Provide professional customer service and resolve equipment-related issues efficiently.
- Complete all required service paperwork and computer documentation accurately.
- Maintain accurate inventory and equipment records.
- Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, SOPs, and applicable regulations.

What We're Looking For

- 3+ years of experience repairing generators or similar power equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot independently.
- Experience working with diesel, gasoline, and/or LP generators.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems and troubleshooting.
- Valid Ontario G Class driver's licence with a clean driver's abstract.
- Ability to lift and handle equipment weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities.

Assets

- Heavy Equipment Technician/Mechanic trade certification.
- EGSA certification.
- Small engine repair experience.
- WHMIS or other Health & Safety training.
- Experience working with rental equipment or portable power fleets.
