About the Role
We are seeking a Purchasing Agent to support the purchasing of goods and services required across all departments at Heath & Sherwood.
This role is responsible for coordinating purchase orders, following up with suppliers, supporting receiving and invoice processing, and helping ensure materials and services are available when required. The successful candidate will work closely with suppliers and internal departments to help achieve competitive pricing, reliable delivery dates, and accurate purchasing documentation.
This position requires someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Supplier Coordination
- Prepare, process and expedite purchase orders
- Follow up with suppliers on scheduled deliveries and outstanding orders
- Work with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and delivery dates
- Maintain clear communication with suppliers regarding order requirements, delivery schedules, and changes
- Support internal departments with purchasing requirements for goods and services
Receiving, Invoicing & System Administration
- Process receipts and supplier invoices
- Enter and maintain purchasing information within the Sage 300 system.
- Ensure purchasing records and supporting documentation are complete and accurate
- Assist with resolving discrepancies related to purchase orders, receipts, invoices, and delivers
Document & Compliance Support
- Work with suppliers to obtain documentation required for export processing
- Obtain and maintain supplier documentation required for quality assurance reporting
- Ensure purchasing documentation is properly organized and available to support internal requirements
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or a similar business environment would be considered an asset
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Experience working with accounting or ERP software is an asset
- Basic understanding of accounting principles would be considered an asset
- Degree or diploma in Business, Purchasing, Supply Chain, or a related field would be considered an asset; equivalent experience will also be considered
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and supplier relationship skills
- Good critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and changing workloads
- Strong attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy
- Ability to meet deadlines and follow through on outstanding items
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently while contributing to a team environment
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn
Work Workplace
- This role is based in Kirkland Lake, Ontario and is primarily office-based
- The position involves regular interaction with suppliers and employees across Engineering, Projects, Production, Finance, Shipping/Receiving, and other departments
- The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where priorities and material requirements may change

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
