Cheelcare is a Canadian manufacturer of innovative mobility products designed to improve independence and quality of life for wheelchair users. We design, develop, manufacture, and support complex assistive technologies that combine mechanical, electrical, and software systems.

As we continue to develop current products and expand our existing product portfolio, we are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineerto join our R&D; team.

The Opportunity

The Mechanical Engineer will participate throughout the product development process, working closely with the R&D; team to translate product and user requirements into practical, manufacturable mechanical solutions.

This is a hands-on engineering position. The successful candidate will contribute to design decisions, independently implement approved concepts, build and evaluate prototypes, troubleshoot mechanicalissues, and support testing and documentation throughout the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

- Participate in the mechanical design and product development process alongside the R&D; team.
- Independently implement engineering design decisions and develop detailed mechanical designs.
- Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, drawings, and related engineering documentation using SolidWorks.
- Design components and assemblies with consideration for manufacturability, reliability, cost, serviceability, and product performance.
- Build, modify, and evaluate prototypes for new products, components, and design improvements.
- Develop and perform mechanical testing to validate designs and identify potential failure modes.
- Diagnose mechanical failures and recommend corrective design changes.
- Work with manufacturing processes including forming, welding, CNC machining, fabrication, and assembly.




- Collaborate with Marketing and other internal stakeholders to understand customer and end-user requirements.
- Translate product requirements and user feedback into practical engineering solutions.
- Provide estimates related to materials, manufacturing costs, development effort, and project timing.
- Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications, test documentation, and other engineering records.
- Complete required documentation in accordance with Cheelcare's Quality Management System (QMS).
- Participate in design reviews, verification and validation activities, and continuous product improvement.

Qualifications, Education & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 4 years of practical mechanical engineering or product development experience.
- Experience within an ISO-certified company is considered an asset.
- Experience within medical device manufacturing considered an asset.
- Experience developing physical products through design, prototyping, and testing.
- Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) licence or eligibility for licensing is considered an asset.

Technical Skills

- Strong proficiency with SolidWorks is required.
- Experience with AutoCAD is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, mechanics, materials, tolerances, and material selection.




- Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes including forming, welding, CNC machining, fabrication, and assembly.
- Hands-on prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and failure-diagnostic experience.
- Ability to create clear engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with regulated product development, medical devices, assistive technology, or Quality Management Systems is considered an asset.

Pay: $66,259.68-$99,845.81 per year
