Family Day Home Consultant Needed
Heritage Family Day Home Agency is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Family Day Home Consultant to support and guide providers in delivering high-quality childcare. In this role, you will mentor educators, ensure compliance with Alberta Child Care Licensing standards and agency policies, and help create safe, nurturing, and engaging environments for children.

Position Title
- Position: Family Day Home Consultant
- Type of Position: Independent Contractor
- Start Date: May 1st
- Starting at 30 hours per month, with additional hours in the near future
- Rate: $25/hour (Position is also eligible for provincial wage top-up)
- Monthly Stipend: $150 (to support phone, laptop, and travel use)
- Payment: Monthly invoicing
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and uphold the mission, vision, and values of the agency
- Collaborate with the coordinator and team to support educators and program needs
- Conduct monthly visits to ensure compliance with regulations and standards
- Ensure health, safety, and emergency protocols are followed
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and curriculum support to educators
- Address non-compliances and complete required reports and follow-ups
- Respond to incidents, complaints, and conduct investigations as needed
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Communicate promptly and professionally with educators and families
- Connect families and educators to community resources
- Support workshops, networking, and professional development initiatives
- Build positive,
inclusive relationships with educators, children, and families
- Maintain professionalism and clear communication with staff
- Take on additional duties as required to support agency operations
Qualification
- Minimum ECE Level 2 Certification
- Valid Police Check (within 6 months)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Current First Aid & Infant/Child CPR
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in early learning (Family Day Home preferred)
- Knowledge of Alberta’s Early Learning Framework (FLIGHT)
- Familiarity with Alberta Child Care Act, Regulations, and FDH Standards
- Strong understanding of child development and inclusive practices
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
- Strong organization, observation, and assessment skills
- Ability to mentor, coach, and support educators
- Proven ability to collaborate and build positive relationships
Requirements
- Personal laptop and phone for work use
- Automobile liability insurance coverage of at least $2 million per occurrence.
- Proof of WCB coverage
