The Opportunity

We are seeking an Electro-Mechanical Technician to support the maintenance, improvement, and introduction of manufacturing equipment used in the machining and assembly of powertrain components. You will work alongside Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Project Engineering teams, supporting electrical, mechanical, controls, automation, and equipment improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues on manufacturing equipment.
- Assist with equipment upgrades, automation projects, and process improvements.
- Support equipment installations, modifications, startup, and commissioning.
- Perform basic diagnostics on PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, and control systems.
- Assist with corrective actions following equipment downtime and quality issues.
- Support equipment handovers and maintain technical documentation.
- Develop and assist with basic equipment training materials.
- Troubleshoot equipment using wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
- Follow all applicable safety, electrical, and machine guarding standards.
- Work closely with Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Project Engineering to improve equipment performance and reliability.

Equipment & Technical Exposure

The ideal candidate will have exposure to some of the following:

- PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, drives, and safety systems




- Assembly equipment including torque systems, presses, vision systems, and functional testing equipment
- Robots, conveyors, and automated transfer/material handling systems
- CNC machinery, with Fanuc or Siemens exposure considered an asset
- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Industrial sensors, relays, and electrical control systems
- Industrial networking, including Ethernet and basic device communications
- Basic 2D/3D CAD tools
- Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- SAP or computerized maintenance/tracking systems

Qualifications

- Postsecondary diploma or degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or a related discipline preferred.
- minimum 4+ years of experience (e.g. PLCs, Servos, drives, safety systems, robots, CNCs, instruments, actuators, vision, HMIs, networks, etc.).
- Fundamental understanding of electrical systems, including 24 VDC, basic AC power, sensors, and relays.
- Fundamental understanding of mechanical systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, and motion components.
- Exposure to PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and equipment documentation.
- Comfortable using standard hand tools and electrical test equipment such as a multimeter.
- Comfortable working hands-on in a production/shop-floor environment.
- Strong safety awareness and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
- Ability to properly document work performed and communicate technical issues clearly.
