Trackman – Railway Construction & Maintenance

Location: Alberta, Saskatchewan & British Columbia (Travel Required)
Work Schedule: 10 Days On / 4 Days Off (Varies based on customers schedule)
Reports To: Foreman

Position Overview

Quality Railway Services is currently hiring Trackmen to support railway construction, maintenance, and turnout work across Western Canada. This role is ideal for individuals with railway experience as well as those looking to start a long-term career in the industry.

As a Trackman, you will be responsible for assisting with the safe construction, repair, and maintenance of railway track while working as part of a high-performing crew.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform track construction, maintenance, and repair work
- Assist with turnout installations and track upgrades
- Operate hand tools and small engine equipment safely and effectively
- Follow direction from the Foreman and contribute to daily production goals
- Adhere to all company and railway safety policies and procedures
- Maintain awareness and alertness while working in active railway environments
- Support equipment care and basic maintenance
- Work collaboratively with crew members to ensure efficient operations

Knowledge & Skills

- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Basic knowledge of construction methods (railway experience considered an asset)
- Familiarity with tools, equipment, and job site procedures
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to remain focused and alert during long shifts
- Valuable stress management and adaptability in changing conditions

Requirements





- Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
- Railway or construction experience considered an asset (not required for entry-level candidates)
- Clean criminal record check
- Ability to read and write in English
- Physically fit and capable of performing demanding labour
- Good hearing and vision
- Minimum high school education
