About OCTS

Overland Container Transportation Services (OCTS) has been providing transportation and logistics services across Western Canada since 1989. Our operations include container transportation, transloading, warehousing, container storage and repair, and other logistics services.

We are currently looking for a dependable and hardworking General Labourer to join our Acheson operation.

The Role

This is a hands-on position supporting a variety of warehouse, yard, and transload activities. The successful candidate will work as part of an operational team to safely load, unload, move, secure, and handle freight and materials.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys physical work and wants to develop additional skills within an industrial and transportation environment. Paid on-the-job training is provided, with opportunities to learn areas such as container de-stuffing, rigging, railcar offloading, material-handling equipment, and shunt truck operations.

Responsibilities

- Load, unload, move, stage, and secure freight and materials.
- Assist with loading and de-stuffing shipping containers.
- Perform general labour duties throughout the warehouse and yard.
- Move tools, equipment, materials, and freight as directed.
- Assist with railcar and transload operations.
- Operate light or heavy equipment when trained and authorized.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Follow all company safety procedures, policies, and work instructions.
- Identify and report workplace hazards, equipment concerns,



or unsafe conditions.
- Work cooperatively with supervisors, operators, and other team members.
- Perform additional operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

- Is dependable, punctual, and willing to learn.
- Is comfortable performing physically demanding work.
- Can safely lift and handle materials weighing up to approximately 50 lbs.
- Can follow instructions, safety procedures, labels, and warning signs.
- Has strong attention to detail and awareness of their surroundings.
- Can communicate effectively and work well as part of a team.
- Is comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Has previous general labour, warehouse, construction, transportation, industrial, or similar experience considered an asset.
- Has a high school diploma or equivalent considered an asset.
- Has experience operating forklifts, equipment, or industrial vehicles considered an asset.
- Has a valid Class 5 driver's licence considered an asset.

Schedule

This position works a 4 days on / 4 days off rotating schedule.

Candidates must be available to work their full scheduled rotation, including weekends and statutory holidays when they fall within the scheduled four-day work period.

The 4-on, 4-off rotation provides employees with a consistent schedule and four consecutive days off between each work rotation.





Physical Requirements

This position regularly involves:

- Lifting and handling materials up to approximately 50 lbs.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Bending, twisting, reaching, and repetitive movements.
- Working throughout warehouse and outdoor yard environments.
- Working around trucks, trailers, railcars, machinery, and material-handling equipment.
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.

Required personal protective equipment will be provided in accordance with company requirements.

This position is located at 26550 Acheson Road, Acheson, Alberta.

Candidates must be able to reliably commute to and from the Acheson worksite for all scheduled shifts.
