The Opportunity

NDS Integration is seeking an Installation Technician I to support the delivery of reliable, professional commercial audiovisual and connected technology systems. This is an entry-level field role for someone who wants to build practical trade skills, learn industry standards, and grow within commercial AV integration.

Working under the direction of a Project Manager or Senior Technician, the Technician I assists with installation, cabling, equipment preparation, documentation, site organization, and warehouse activities. Success in this role comes from consistency, care, coachability, and a robust respect for safety and workmanship.

THE STANDARD: Every cable, label, mounting point, photo, and cleanup task contributes to the quality of the finished system. Do the basics exceptionally well, ask when unsure, and leave the work better than you found it.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist with the installation of commercial AV and connected technology systems, including displays, projectors, loudspeakers, microphones, cameras, mounts, racks, control devices, and related hardware.

· Pull, route, dress, label, and secure Cat5e/Cat6, speaker, control, and other low-voltage cabling under supervision.

· Assist with basic cable termination and testing while following NDS standards, drawings, and instructions.

· Support the mounting of displays, cameras, loudspeakers, and other equipment using approved hardware and safe work practices.

· Assist with rack assembly, equipment staging, device placement, cable management, and labeling.

· Load, unload, move, and protect tools, equipment, and materials at the warehouse and project sites.

Site Execution and Documentation

· Follow direction from the Project Manager, Lead Technician, and senior field staff; confirm instructions before proceeding when requirements are unclear.

· Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe throughout the day, including proper disposal of packaging and debris.

· Record clear progress photos, basic notes, completed tasks, and identified issues in NDS project software.





· Protect finished surfaces, client property, and installed equipment from damage.

· Work respectfully around clients, general contractors, other trades, and members of the public.

Warehouse and Equipment Readiness

· Receive and verify incoming equipment against packing slips and report discrepancies promptly.

· Stage, organize, label, and prepare equipment and materials for upcoming projects.

· Keep tools, shelves, work areas, and shared equipment clean and properly stored.

· Assist with inventory counts, return checks, basic equipment testing, and the identification of damaged or missing items.

Safety and Development

· Follow NDS, client, and construction-site safety procedures, including required personal protective equipment.

· Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and lifts only within demonstrated training and authorization.

· Actively build knowledge of AV equipment, cabling, signal flow, drawings, installation standards, and troubleshooting.

· Apply feedback, ask useful questions, and take increasing ownership as skills and experience develop.

Required Qualifications

· Some experience in audiovisual, low-voltage, electrical, construction, warehousing, general labour, or another hands-on environment.

· Comfort using common hand and power tools, with a willingness to learn safe and correct techniques.

· Ability to follow drawings, written instructions, verbal direction, checklists, and established procedures.

· Robust punctuality, organization, attention to detail, and team-oriented work habits.

· Ability to communicate clearly, accept coaching, and raise questions or concerns promptly.

· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lb, climb ladders, work on approved lifts, and perform physical installation tasks.

· Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation to NDS and assigned project locations.

· Legally entitled to work in Canada and able to work at project sites throughout Metro Vancouver.

Preferred Qualifications

· WHMIS, Fall Protection, lift certification, or willingness to obtain required training.

· Interest in audiovisual systems, electronics, networking, construction, or technical trades.

· Basic familiarity with commercial AV equipment, structured cabling, drawings, or test tools.





· Previous experience working safely on active construction or renovation sites.

Produce neat cable routes, consistent labels, secure mounting support, and organized work areas.

Provide useful photos, notes, and task updates so the project team knows what is complete and what remains.

Protect equipment, account for materials, and return tools clean and ready for the next task.

Demonstrate steady improvement in terminology, installation methods, drawings, terminations, and testing.
