Branch Supervisor — Job Description
About the Role
The client is looking for a Branch Supervisor for its Saint John branch — the company's newest and smallest location, open for approximately 5–6 years. The Branch Supervisor acts as a key liaison between branch staff, customers, and head office, with responsibility for day-to-day operations and supporting the outside sales team in achieving branch goals.
This is a hands-on, on-site leadership role. Success is measured by operational excellence — not personal sales.
Key Responsibilities
Branch Operations (~60%)
- Monitor and manage daily branch operations to ensure efficient customer service and a high level of customer satisfaction and retention.
- Provide direct oversight and support to counter and warehouse staff, ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Handle higher-maintenance and higher-volume customer accounts directly.
- Ensure quoted products are maintained at a healthy gross profit margin and that product flow is timely and efficient.
- Maintain operational compliance, including closing out open orders and managing bank deposits.
Sales Support (~40%)
- Develop a branch sales budget in collaboration with the New Brunswick sales team.
- Collaborate with the outside sales team to drive achievement of branch sales goals; periodically participate in sales calls.
- Support execution of the branch sales plan.
People Management
- Manage and provide frequent, constructive feedback to inside sales, technical sales, and warehouse staff — both formally through the performance management process and informally.
- Foster a supportive team environment; absorb operational pressure rather than passing stress down to the team.
General
- Perform additional tasks and complete projects as assigned by head office management.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Comfortable in a laid-back, non-corporate culture while remaining driven and accountable.
- Able to manage high-pressure situations calmly, without transferring stress to the team.
- Commercial parts wholesale industry background preferred; candidates with field/install or contractor experience also considered.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills; comfortable handling escalated or high-volume accounts.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a small team.
