THE OPPORTUNITY:
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on manufacturing, fabrication or metal-forming experience who enjoys practical production work and takes pride in accuracy and quality.
As a Press Brake Operator, you will support forming operations by helping organize work, prepare and form components, review technical drawings and measurements, monitor bend quality and assist with inspection requirements throughout the production process.
You will work with a variety of materials, including mild steel, aluminum and stainless steel, and collaborate with production leadership and quality personnel to help ensure parts are completed correctly and according to specification.
The role offers the opportunity to strengthen your technical skills in metal forming, quality inspection, production processes and equipment while contributing to a busy, team-oriented manufacturing workplace.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Press Brake Operator will support day-to-day forming operations and help ensure production requirements are completed accurately, safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities will include:
- Review assigned daily production schedules and assist with organizing work orders.
- Ensure order tracking is completed and reported in a timely manner.
- Perform forming tasks on various metals, including mild steel, aluminum and stainless steel.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints and measurements.
- Set up and lay out work using fixtures and guides to fabricate parts and assemblies.
- Assist in forming components according to procedures, drawings and work orders.
- Monitor stages of the forming process and assess the quality and accuracy of bends.
- Identify flaws, tolerance concerns or other potential quality issues.
- Support First Article Inspections (FAI) to verify the accuracy of assigned work orders.
- Conduct or assist with detailed inspections of production parts as required.
- Work with production leadership and Quality Assurance personnel to help resolve non-conformance issues involving part damage, shortages, tolerances or other production concerns.
- Support corrective actions where required.
- Maintain forming equipment and work areas according to company 5S standards and preventative-maintenance requirements.
- Follow all health and safety practices and internal policies, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Participate in process and product improvement initiatives.
- Assist with the development and improvement of forming processes and techniques.
- Participate in training to develop additional skills involving software, equipment and production methods.
EXPERIENCE:
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in manufacturing, fabrication, metal forming or a related production environment.
Relevant experience may include:
- Press brake or forming work
- Metal fabrication or sheet metal work
- Working with mild steel, aluminum or stainless steel
- Reading technical drawings, blueprints or shop drawings
- Working from measurements and production specifications
- Using fixtures, guides and measurement tools
- Quality inspection or production documentation
- Working in a structured shop environment with safety and 5S expectations
- Forklift certification would be considered an asset
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of drawing symbols, blueprints, shop drawings and measurement tools
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Adaptability when priorities or production requirements change
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and consistently meet production deadlines
- Ability to work effectively with supervisors, team leads, quality personnel and peers
- Willingness to learn new equipment, software, processes and techniques
- Commitment to workplace safety and established procedures
- Positive, collaborative and team-oriented approach
- Interest in continuous improvement and producing work correctly the first time
- Forklift certification would be considered an asset
