Custom Van Builder / Multi-Skilled Install Technician

Wilderness Vans – Lethbridge, AB
Full time | Permanent

Wilderness Vans is always looking for skilled, hands-on builders who take pride in creating exceptional custom vehicles.

We build/outfit world class adventure vans and specialty vehicles, and we’re interested in connecting with versatile tradespeople and builders who enjoy working across multiple disciplines — not just one narrow trade function.

This role is ideal for someone who builds professionally and spends their free time creating, modifying, fabricating, renovating, or working on passion projects. If you have a portfolio of custom work, side projects, vehicle builds, fabrication work, woodworking, renovations, or similar hands-on projects, we’d love to see it.

The Role

This is a multi-disciplinary custom build position involving all stages of the van conversion process. Team members are expected to contribute across multiple areas of production depending on workflow, experience, and project needs.

This is not a single-trade-only role. While you may have a primary background in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, fabrication, mechanical, or another trade, we are looking for adaptable builders who are comfortable working across different aspects of a custom build.

Work may include:

- Structural van prep, insulation, and subfloor installation
- Measuring and cutting openings for windows, fans, and skylights
- Cabinetry, wall panels, interior finishing, and custom fabrication
- Installing electrical, plumbing, heating, and accessory systems

- Mechanical installs and exterior accessories
- Functional testing, quality checks, and troubleshooting
- Supporting different stages of production as needed

Who You Are

You’re someone who:

- Has strong hands-on experience in construction, trades, fabrication, automotive, RV, marine, woodworking, or custom builds
- Enjoys building a wide variety of things — professionally and personally
- Takes pride in quality craftsmanship and problem solving
- Is confident using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
- Can work from measurements, layouts, schematics, or blueprints
- Works well independently while still being part of a strong team
- Is adaptable, mechanically inclined, and eager to keep learning

Journeyman or Red Seal certification is an asset, but well-rounded experience and capability matter more to us than titles alone.

Why Wilderness Vans?

- Build unique, high-end custom vehicles
- Work on projects that are different every day
- Join a growing team of passionate builders and problem solvers
- Use a wide range of skills instead of being stuck doing the same task every day
- Be part of a company that values craftsmanship, versatility, and initiative

We are hiring on an ongoing basis because truly well-rounded builders are hard to find. If this sounds like your kind of environment, we encourage you to apply — and include photos or examples of projects you’ve built, modified, or worked on.
