**Plant Manager**

**Job Description**

The Plant Manager leads all operational activities at a large steel processing facility, ensuring production schedules are met with maximum efficiency and minimal waste.

This role oversees heavy industrial operations, drives production excellence, and maintains strict cost controls while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

The Plant Manager provides strategic direction, manages budgets, and guides a multi-layered team through complex workflows including fabrication, welding, and machining.

**Responsibilities**

+ Plan and direct daily plant operations to ensure production schedules are met with maximum efficiency, minimal waste, and adherence to cost targets.
+ Manage plant labour costs and resourcing, including workforce planning, shift coverage, and optimization of staffing levels.
+ Serve as the primary advocate for a strong safety culture, ensuring full compliance with Provincial Occupational Health and Safety regulations and environmental standards.
+ Oversee and manage WSIB employee files with a strong emphasis on safe and timely return-to-work programs and modification of job duties when applicable.
+ Develop and manage annual capital (CAPEX) and operational (OPEX) budgets to optimize return on investment on plant assets.
+ Maintain rigorous quality control systems, including ISO 9001 or similar frameworks, to meet or exceed customer specifications and industry standards.
+ Recruit, train, and mentor a diverse workforce, including supervisors, production staff, and temporary workers, fostering a high-performance culture.
+ Lead Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma initiatives to eliminate bottlenecks, reduce waste, and streamline heavy-duty steel processing workflows.
+ Oversee preventative maintenance programs for the building and critical plant assets to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
+ Ensure complex workflows such as fabrication, welding, and machining run efficiently and consistently meet demanding production targets.
+ Use data and key performance indicators to monitor plant performance, identify issues, and implement corrective and continuous improvement actions.
+ Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align production capabilities with customer requirements, quality expectations, and delivery timelines.

**Essential Skills**

+ 5–10 years of experience as a Heavy Industrial Plant Manager or in a closely related leadership role within a production or manufacturing environment.
+ Strong background and knowledge in metal fabrication and steel processing operations.
+ Proven experience in planning and directing production and manufacturing processes in a heavy industrial setting.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage plant-wide training, scheduling, and operational planning for an entire facility.
+ Hands-on experience implementing or maintaining quality control systems such as ISO 9001.
+ Working knowledge of Provincial Occupational Health and Safety regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
+ Experience managing budgets, including CAPEX and OPEX, with a focus on optimizing asset utilization and ROI.
+ Capability to lead and mentor supervisors, production staff, and temporary workers in a high-demand environment.
+ Proficiency in applying Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles to drive continuous improvement.




+ Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills to monitor performance and implement improvements.
+ Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills suited to a complex, multi-layered operation.

The Plant Manager oversees a multi-layered team, including supervisors, production staff, and temporary workers, and works closely with maintenance personnel to ensure equipment reliability and building upkeep.

Operations rely on structured preventative maintenance programs, quality systems such as ISO 9001, and continuous improvement methodologies like Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.

The setting is industrial and hands-on, requiring regular presence on the shop floor and close interaction with production processes and equipment.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Permanent position based out of Brampton, ON.

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $140000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
