This role requires operating in tight quarters, handling freight of various sizes, shapes, and weights, and accurately following paper and digital shipping documentation to ensure all products move correctly through the facility.

**Responsibilities**

+ Operate a propane sit-down counterbalance (SDCB) forklift for approximately 80% of the shift to load and unload trailers and containers as the primary job duty.
+ Handle a wide variety of freight, including small to very large and heavy shipments, ensuring safe and secure movement and placement on the dock.
+ Work in tight quarters and turn tight corners while maintaining a high level of safety and efficiency.
+ Use paper shipping documents to verify that products are loaded and unloaded accurately according to instructions and trailer manifests.
+ Adapt to and learn complex digital shipping software as the operation transitions from paper-based to digital documentation.
+ Stage and organize freight on the dock to support efficient cross-dock and LTL operations.
+ Perform repetitive lifting of up to 50 pounds as needed, including handbombing freight when required.
+ Communicate clearly and professionally with drivers, coworkers, and other team members to coordinate loading and unloading activities.
+ Work independently and take initiative to keep freight moving and meet operational timelines in a rapid-paced setting.
+ Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper use of equipment and personal protective gear.
+ Maintain a clean and organized work area on the dock and around the forklift operating zones.
+ Be flexible with contract duration, understanding that the assignment may be extended based on internal hiring processes.

**Essential Skills**

+ Minimum 1 year experience operating a sit-down counterbalance (SDCB) forklift as a primary job duty in a 3PL or LTL setting, focused on loading and unloading trailers.
+ Valid forklift certification/ticket for operating a sit-down counterbalance forklift.
+ Experience working with freight of varying sizes, shapes, and weights in a cross-dock or LTL setting.
+ Good computer skills and ability to learn and use digital shipping software.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly and perform manual handling and handbombing as required.
+ Reliable transportation to consistently attend the afternoon shift.
+ Ability to work safely and quickly in tight quarters and high-traffic dock areas.
+ Strong English communication skills for reading documentation and coordinating with team members.
+ Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
+ Comfort with shop-floor communication and a busy operational setting.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ 2–5 years experience in LTL operations is an asset.
+ Leadership experience, such as supervising or coordinating a team, is considered an advantage.
+ Experience using Truckmate or similar transportation management software is a plus.
+ Experience with clamp truck, shunt truck, electric sit-down counterbalance, and cross-dock operations is beneficial.

+ Supervisory skills and familiarity with high-volume dock environments are an asset.
+ Ability to thrive in a multicultural, fast-paced, and highly independent team culture.
