Purpose
Responsible for providing various kinds of administrative tasks to ensure efficient operative of the community.
Summary Description
The Receptionist, under the supervision of the Executive Assistant, performs reception and secretarial/clerical duties including: assisting residents, greeting and directing visitors, operating the switchboard; takes bookings for resident transportation; operates emergency communications system; assists service areas with secretarial/clerical support.
Education and Requirements
Any combination of education and experience providing the skill and knowledge for successful performance would qualify. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- Completion of High School Diploma.
- Minimum one to two years’ experience in reception and/or administrative work.
- Criminal and Vulnerable Persons police check; in positive standing.
- Strong written and oral communication skills or ability to read, write and communicate in English.
Skills and Knowledge
- Experience working with seniors and seniors housing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and typing.
- Detailed oriented.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to form professional relationships.
- Able to organize and manage files, tasks, schedules and information.
- Able to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently.
- Ability work independently and within a team.
Physical Requirements
Ability to meet the physical requirements including:
- Lifting to maximum 25 lbs.
- Carrying/transporting objects up to maximum 25 lbs.
- Bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and stretching.
- Sitting at a computer typing for long periods of time.
- Frequent walking.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Understands and implements Origin Active Lifestyles Mission, Vision and Values.
· Promotes a safe and respectful workplace.
- Be available to residents to discuss questions/concerns; help resolve them quickly by communicating with appropriate individuals.
· Answers incoming calls; obtains information from caller and selects the appropriate internal contact to direct the call to; provides information to residents and visitors, transfers calls and makes page/announcements to personnel and residents; takes and transmits messages and sorts and directs all incoming mail. Responsible for taking bookings for resident transportation.
· Performs a variety of specialized and difficult clerical work using independent judgment, discretion and initiative. Types letters and memorandums as well as operates a variety of office equipment.
· Monitors alarms systems and receives internal/external emergency calls, selects and initiates response procedures and ensures that communication procedure is completed.
· Prepares and updates a variety of lists for reference purposes and controls key access to the community.
- Observe and report on changes in residents’ condition(s)/behaviors to appropriate individuals.
· Maintains confidential information.
- Adheres to the Occupational Health and Safety guidelines; commits to a safety culture.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Working Hours
· Flexible working hours: Hours will be seven days a week including days, evening and weekend shifts in order to meet the needs of the business.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00-$19.00 per hour
