A Human Resource (HR) Generalist is a professional who is responsible for making sure that employees follow all policies and procedures. They are responsible for creating new onboarding plans and educating newly hired employees about their rights.
HR Generalist responsibilities include:
- Administering compensation and benefit plans
- Develops and executes full-cycle recruitment for all vacancies including generating job postings, providing a focused and effective sourcing strategy, a consistent interview process and assessment approach.
- Sources candidates by direct sourcing, referral and creatively identifying sources for candidates including job ads, career fairs, educational institutions, associations, networking, and social media.
- Conducting employee onboarding and as well as training & development
- Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace
- Assist in development and implementation of human resource policies
- Undertake tasks around performance management
- Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics, like time to hire and employee turnover rates
- Organize quarterly and annual employee performance reviews
- Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form
- Enhance job satisfaction by investigating and resolving issues promptly, applying new perks and perks and organizing team building activities
- Provide general administrative support such as preparing correspondence regarding new hires and requests for letters of employment, forms and reports, coordinating and scheduling meetings/interviews/training sessions, and managing deadlines.
- Conducting exit interviews and termination meetings including speaking to terminated employees regarding their questions, feedback and issues.
- Coaching and providing guidance on a variety of topics. This includes partnering with the management team to provide perspective on topics such as complex employee relations issues, performance coaching & development,
succession planning, compensation recommendations, termination pay recommendations, and more, according to company policy and Employment Standards regulations.
- Ensure compliance with labor regulations
- Coordinating leaves of absence, return to work, and modified duties.
- Completing the payroll process including auditing timecards, following up on missing hours, and submitting payroll to our third party vendors.
- Design and manage the employee recognition program
- Any other duties as assigned
Requirements and skills
- Proven experience as an HR Generalist
- Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures
- Good knowledge of employment/labor laws
- Outstanding knowledge of MS Office; HRIS systems (e.g. PeopleSoft) will be a plus
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Aptitude in problem-solving
- Desire to work as a team with a results driven approach
- BSc/BA in Business administration or relevant field
- Additional HR training will be a plus

The majority of work hours will be normal office hours Monday to Friday, however some early mornings/late evenings/weekends may be required on an occasional basis.

Experience:
- Human resources: 2 years (preferred)
- PeopleSoft: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
