York Region Transit – Driver Subcontractors

We are currently seeking reliable and professional Driver Subcontractors to provide transportation services within York Region.

This opportunity is ideal for experienced professional drivers or independent operators looking for steady transportation work.

Requirements

Applicants must:

- Hold a valid Ontario driver’s licence appropriate for the vehicle/service being operated
- Have a clean and acceptable driver’s abstract
- Be able to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening / Criminal Record Check, where required
- Meet all applicable York Region Transit contractual and driver qualification requirements
- Have a robust driving record and commitment to passenger safety
- Be reliable, punctual and professional
- Be comfortable working with the public and providing excellent customer service
- Be able to safely assist passengers when required
- Have good communication skills and be able to follow dispatch instructions
- Be available for scheduled shifts, including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends depending on service requirements
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada

Subcontractor Opportunity





This is a subcontractor opportunity, not a traditional employee position.

Successful applicants will be required to meet all applicable licensing, screening, training, insurance and contractual requirements before providing service.

Experience

Previous experience with any of the following is considered an asset:

- York Region Transit / YRT
- Mobility or accessible transportation
- Wheel-Trans or paratransit
- Public transit
- Taxi or limousine service
- School bus or passenger transportation
- Professional commercial driving
