Job Overview
The Assistant Executive Housekeeper supports the Executive Housekeeper in managing the daily operations of the Housekeeping Department, including guest rooms, public spaces, laundry operations, and back-of-house areas. This role helps ensure the hotel maintains exceptional cleanliness standards, guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, and compliance with company and Marriott brand standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the Housekeeping Department.
- Schedule associates to ensure adequate staffing levels and operational coverage.
- Monitor employee performance and recommend coaching, recognition, disciplinary action, or other staffing-related actions in accordance with company policies.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of housekeeping associates.
- Ensure associates have the tools, equipment, supplies, and support necessary to perform their duties effectively.
- Conduct daily pre-shift meetings and communicate important operational information.
Quality Assurance & Operations
- Schedule and conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and laundry operations.
- Ensure guest rooms, furnishings, equipment, linens, public washrooms, and common areas meet hotel cleanliness and presentation standards.
- Complete and review housekeeping reports and communicate room status updates to the Guest Services team.
- Document and communicate maintenance concerns to the Engineering Department to ensure timely resolution.
- Assist with deep-cleaning projects and special housekeeping initiatives.
- Support housekeeping associates during peak periods and unexpected operational demands.
Inventory & Cost Control
- Assist with ordering, receiving, and maintaining inventory levels of linen, guest supplies, and cleaning products.
- Participate in monthly inventory counts and inventory control procedures.
- Assist in maintaining department par levels and replenishing operational supplies.
- Support efforts to control expenses, reduce waste, and improve operational efficiency.
Guest Experience
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns, complaints, and special requests.
- Assist in coordinating VIP arrivals, repeat guests, and special accommodation requests.
- Ensure corrective action is taken to resolve guest concerns and maintain guest satisfaction.
- Promote a positive guest experience through exceptional service and attention to detail.
Communication & Collaboration
- Promote teamwork and quality service through regular communication and coordination with other departments.
- Work closely with Front Office, Engineering, Food & Beverage, Security, and other hotel teams to support hotel operations.
- Maintain professional relationships with vendors, contractors, regulatory agencies,
and other external partners when required.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining and securing lost-and-found items according to hotel procedures.
- May serve as Manager on Duty when required.
- Assist with departmental projects and other duties as assigned.
- Follow all Company and Marriott Brand Standards, policies, procedures, and Health & Safety requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Post-secondary education, hospitality training, or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience: Minimum two years of housekeeping experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities, preferably in a hotel environment.
Language: Fluent English required; additional languages are considered an asset.

Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
- Move throughout all areas of the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
- Perform inspections and assist with operational tasks as needed.
- Remain active for extended periods while overseeing department operations.
Schedule Requirements
- Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Flexibility to support operational needs and emergency situations.
