Position Summary
The Grizz Hotel is seeking a reliable and experienced Breakfast Line Cook to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will prepare and cook breakfast meals while maintaining high standards of food quality, consistency, cleanliness, and food safety. This position requires someone who can work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen and contribute to a positive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook complete breakfast meals and individual menu items according to standardized recipes and presentation standards.
- Prepare foods using various cooking methods including grilling, frying, baking, poaching, sautéing, roasting, and broiling.
- Set up and stock cooking stations with all necessary ingredients and supplies before breakfast service.
- Ensure food is prepared, cooked, and plated accurately while maintaining consistent quality and portion control.
- Monitor food quality, freshness, and temperatures in accordance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, portioning, marinating, and storing food items.
- Assist with food preparation for future service and daily kitchen operations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, and food preparation areas throughout each shift.
- Receive, inspect, rotate, and properly store food deliveries, ingredients, and kitchen supplies following food safety procedures.
- Assist with monitoring kitchen inventory and notify management of low stock levels.
- Minimize food waste through proper inventory handling, storage, and portion control practices.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen team members to ensure efficient meal service.
- Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and Workplace Safety procedures.
- Assist with cleaning duties, dishwashing, and kitchen closing procedures as required.
- Support the training and orientation of new kitchen staff when assigned.
- Perform other related kitchen duties as required to support hotel operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a Cook or Line Cook in a hotel, restaurant, café, resort, or commercial kitchen.
- Experience preparing breakfast items is considered a strong asset.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen equipment.
- Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling procedures.
- Food Safe Level 1 Certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work early morning shifts.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs).

- Competitive wages of $20.00–$22.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
