Vector Learning Co. is hiring a High School Math Tutor to join our growing team for the 2026–2027 school year.
We provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring for Ontario high school students, helping them genuinely understand mathematics, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and approach unfamiliar questions with confidence.
We are looking for someone with a strong mathematics background who can do more than arrive at the correct answer. The ideal tutor can identify why a student is struggling, explain concepts in multiple ways, and help students develop the skills and confidence to solve problems independently.
Courses
Applicants should be confident tutoring the following Ontario high school mathematics courses:
- Grade 9 Mathematics (MTH1W)
- Grade 10 Mathematics (MPM2D, MFM2P)
- Functions (MCR3U)
- Advanced Functions (MHF4U)
- Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U)
- Mathematics of Data Management (MDM4U)
Responsibilities
One-on-one tutoring
- Provide engaging, personalized online tutoring sessions to Ontario high school students.
- Explain mathematical concepts clearly, accurately, and intuitively.
- Support students with homework, assignments, test preparation, and exam preparation.
- Teach problem-solving strategies rather than simply providing answers.
- Identify gaps in student understanding and adapt explanations accordingly.
- Help students recognize patterns and make connections between mathematical concepts.
- Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled sessions.
- Maintain a supportive, professional, and encouraging learning environment.
Educational content creation
Educational social media content is an important part of Vector Learning Co.’s growth and student outreach.
Tutors in this position will:
- Prepare and record approximately five short-form educational math videos per month.
- Participate in one paid monthly filming session in downtown Toronto, typically on the first Friday of each month unless otherwise agreed upon.
- Create curriculum-relevant content, including mini-lessons, common mistakes, practice questions, problem-solving strategies, and exam tips.
- Explain mathematical concepts clearly, confidently, and naturally on camera.
- Prepare assigned topics and questions before filming.
- Collaborate with Vector Learning Co. on content ideas and educational accuracy.
Vector Learning Co. manages editing, branding, captions, and publishing. Tutors are not required to post content on their personal social media accounts.
Required content creation time is compensated.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate:
- Has a strong academic background in mathematics, engineering, computer science, statistics, mathematics education, or a related field.
- Has excellent knowledge of Ontario high school mathematics and is confident teaching the courses listed above.
- Is familiar with the Ontario Grade 9–12 mathematics curriculum.
- Can explain challenging concepts in simple, intuitive ways.
- Is patient, engaging, and encouraging with students.
- Adapts explanations to individual learning needs.
- Has excellent verbal communication skills.
- Is comfortable appearing on camera.
- Is qualified, organized, and reliable.
- Has a reliable internet connection and an appropriate environment for online tutoring.
- Can attend monthly in-person filming sessions in downtown Toronto.
Previous tutoring or teaching experience is strongly preferred.
Availability
Tutoring primarily takes place during after-school, evening, and weekend hours.
Applicants should be available to work throughout the 2026–2027 academic year, from September through June, and maintain reasonably consistent weekly availability.
The anticipated commitment is approximately 4–8 tutoring hours per week to start, with opportunities for additional hours based on student demand and tutor availability.
Location
- Tutoring sessions are conducted remotely.
- Monthly educational content is filmed in person in downtown Toronto.
Compensation
- $40 per hour for one-on-one tutoring.
