Head Grower - Retail Nursery & Garden Centre

About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Head Grower to lead plant production and care at our busy retail
nursery. You’ll make sure our plants look great, help the team with plant knowledge, and keep
growing schedules in sync with what our customers want. If you love plants and enjoy working
with people, this could be the perfect fit!
What You’ll Do
▪ Plan and schedule crops to match seasonal sales and customer trends.
▪ Oversee propagation and growing of a variety of plants, focusing on retail-ready quality.
▪ Keep plants healthy and looking their best for customers.
▪ Manage greenhouse conditions like climate, watering, and feeding.
▪ Use smart pest management and follow local rules.
▪ Train retail staff on plant care and product info.
▪ Work with retail managers to keep inventory stocked and displays fresh.
▪ Help customers with plant questions and support workshops and promotions.
▪ Keep the workplace safe and compliant.
What We’re Looking For
▪ Diploma, degree,
or extensive horticultural knowledge and experience. Master Gardener designation
▪ 2-3 years growing plants commercially; retail experience is a plus.
▪ Good knowledge of plant care, propagation, and pest management.
▪ Able to balance growing goals with how plants look in the store.
▪ Comfortable teaching staff and chatting with customers.
▪ Able to lift 40 lbs and work in different conditions.
▪ Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Pay: $17.64-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 – 44.0 per week
