Regional Kitchen Design and Millwork is a Cambridge-based custom cabinet and millwork company. Led by an owner with more than 40 years of experience in the industry, the company produces high-quality custom kitchen cabinetry and millwork, and is a trusted partner for insurance restoration projects throughout the region.

The shop is fully equipped with CNC routing, edging CNC, and a professional spray paint booth— representing a serious, production-grade manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build real skills in cabinet making and millwork alongside an experienced tradesperson.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a motivated, hardworking individual to join the team as an Apprentice / Shop Helper. You will work directly alongside the owner and production team, learning the full process of custom cabinet fabrication — from raw material handling through to assembly, finishing, and installation preparation.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and is eager to grow within the trade.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with material handling, cutting, and preparation for CNC operations

- Support cabinet assembly including box construction, face frames, doors, and drawer

boxes

- Assist with sanding, prep work, and finishing operations including spray booth support

- Operate hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment under supervision

- Assist with loading, delivery, and on-site installation of cabinet and millwork orders

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop floor and workstations

- Support restoration work — assisting with measurement, fabrication, and replacement

cabinet production for insurance jobs

- Follow all health and safety protocols including proper use of PPE

- Assist with inventory and material receiving

- Learn and follow shop procedures and quality standards

What We're Looking For

Required

- Genuine interest in cabinet making, millwork, or carpentry





- Physically capable of lifting and handling large panels and materials

- Reliable, punctual, and committed to showing up and working hard

- Able to take direction and follow instructions carefully

- Comfortable working in a shop environment (dust, noise, finishing chemicals)

- Basic hand tool and power tool familiarity

Preferred / Assets

- Previous experience in cabinet making, carpentry, woodworking, or a related trade

- Enrollment in or completion of a carpentry or cabinet making apprenticeship program

- Familiarity with CNC equipment or willingness to learn

- Experience in a manufacturing or production shop environment

- Valid Ontario driver's licence (an asset for delivery and installation support)

- Knowledge of finishing and spray painting processes

Work Environment & Schedule

This is a full time, in-person position based at our Cambridge, Ontario shop. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime or weekend availability may be required during peak periods or for installation work. The work environment includes exposure to sawdust, finishing materials, and noise — proper PPE is provided and required.
