Sabre Instrument Services

Canada

We’re looking for a proactive, people‑focused, and detail‑driven Health and Safety Advisor to join our operations team. If you enjoy being out on the shop floor, spotting hazards before they become incidents, and helping employees feel confident and supported in their work, you’ll fit right in.

In this role, you’ll lead the day‑to‑day safety activities that keep our teams protected — from regular shop and field inspections and hazard assessments, to new‑hire and second‑shift orientations, incident investigations, and corrective‑action follow‑up. You’ll support our Joint Health & Safety Committee, develop training, manage digital safety systems, and help ensure Sabre meets the highest standards for compliance and continuous improvement.

You’ll work closely with Operations, Supervisors, and leadership to build a safety culture that’s proactive, consistent, and deeply embedded in how we work.

About Us

Sabre is where big ideas meet big power. We’re an electrical manufacturing and integration company supporting complex power‑distribution and electrical‑integration projects across North America. Our teams blend engineering, manufacturing, and project execution into one fast‑moving, schedule‑driven operation. If you like solving real‑world challenges, working with sharp people, and helping teams stay safe while building meaningful projects, you’ll feel right at home here.

What Do Health and Safety Advisors Do?

Health and Safety Advisors at Sabre are the people who keep our worksites safe, our teams informed, and our systems running smoothly.

You will:

- Perform incident and near‑miss investigations, complete reports, and drive corrective‑action follow‑up.
- Coordinate Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings, documentation, and action items.
- Develop and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and employee safety meetings.
- Manage Sabre’s SiteDocs safety program, ensuring forms, workflows, and corrective actions stay current.
- Assist in managing compliance networks including ISNetworld, Avetta, and ComplyWorks.
- Develop and revise safe‑work practices, job procedures, and job hazard analyses (JHAs).
- Manage the preventive maintenance program for shop equipment and safety‑critical assets.
- Support emergency response planning, drills, and equipment readiness.
- Maintain safety documentation, records, and continuous‑improvement activities.

Duties

You’ll take ownership of safety coordination across Sabre’s operations, including:

- Performing shop, office, and field inspections.
- Completing hazard assessments and verifying control measures.
- Leading orientations and maintaining training records.
- Investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions.
- Facilitating JHSC meetings and supporting committee initiatives.
- Administering SiteDocs, ISN, Avetta, and ComplyWorks.
- Developing safety documentation and revising procedures.

- Coordinating preventive maintenance schedules and records.
- Supporting client audits, pre‑qualification requirements, and compliance reporting.
- Assisting with internal and external training programs.

Required Expertise

You’ll thrive in this role if you bring:

- Experience in industrial or manufacturing safety coordination.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta OH&S; legislation and hazard‑assessment practices.
- Familiarity with SiteDocs, ISNetworld, Avetta, and ComplyWorks.
- Training or certification such as HSA, CSO, NCSO, or equivalent.
- Strong communication, documentation, and follow‑up skills.
- A proactive mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.

Skills, Education & Training

We’re looking for someone with:

- Safety‑related training or certification (HSA, NCSO, CSO, or equivalent).
- Experience conducting inspections, investigations, and safety orientations.
- Experience developing safety procedures, JHAs, and training content.
- Strong organizational skills and comfort working across multiple departments.
- A combination of education and experience that demonstrates strong safety capability.
