Responsibilities
- Oversee the day to day operation of the After School Program
- Coordinate student pickups from nearby schools and ensure children arrive safely at the centre
- Organize staff assignments, pickup responsibilities, classroom coverage, and daily schedules
- Supervise instructors and support staff during program hours
- Ensure appropriate student supervision and smooth transitions throughout the afternoon
- Communicate with parents regarding attendance, pickups, schedules, student needs, and other program matters
- Maintain accurate attendance, pickup, and dismissal records
- Support snack time, activities, and transitions between different parts of the program
- Help ensure classrooms and common areas remain organized, welcoming,
and ready for programming
- Handle unexpected situations such as schedule changes, staff absences, transportation issues, and late pickups calmly and professionally
- Support the Director with staffing, scheduling, parent communication, and general program operations
- Assist with PA Day programs, camps, field trips, and special activities when required
Requirements
- Proven experience in teaching or working with children in educational or recreational settings.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate staff and engage young participants actively.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, staff, and community partners.
- Ability to organize multiple activities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Knowledge of safety standards and best practices for managing youth programs.
- Flexibility to adapt programming based on participant needs and feedback.
- A passion for fostering positive youth development through energetic engagement and supportive mentorship.
