- Shifts: 9am-5pm
What You’ll Do
As a Palliative Shift Nurse, you will provide personalized, high-quality clinical care tailored to clients requiring end-of-life and supportive care in their home environment. As a primary care planner, you have the autonomy and flexibility to provide a holistic approach to care while focusing more on direct client time and less on travel.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering compassionate palliative and end-of-life clinical care
- Providing respite care for family members of client, respecting end of life goals, symptom management, and health teaching to clients and families
- Managing complex care needs, such as protecting skin integrity, nutritional needs, oxygenation, tracheostomy or ventilator support
- Teaching and delegating appropriate care tasks to other care team members and client family members
- Maintaining the industry’s highest standards of nursing practice

Qualifications

Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with active, good-standing registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Certifications: Additional palliative certifications (e.g., LEAP, deSouza Institute courses, or CNA certification in Hospice Palliative Care) are strong assets
- Experience: 1–2 years of recent, relevant nursing experience (community setting preferred); experience in palliative care, symptom management, IV therapy, and trach/vent care is an asset
- Requirements: Valid G2 or G Driver’s License, access to a reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel within the Hamilton/Burlington area in all weather conditions
Candidates who have been offered a position will be required to provide:
- A clear criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening
- Proof of being free from TB
- Two supervisory references
- Current CPR certification with a recognized training provider
