Experienced Automotive Leader Required
We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Automotive Shop & Tire Center Manager to lead the operations of a busy automotive repair and tire service facility. This position is suited for a proven leader with demonstrated success in managing employees, growing revenue, improving operational efficiency, and maintaining a strong safety culture.
This is not an entry-level position. Applicants must have a track record of successfully managing automotive, tire, fleet maintenance, or mechanical service operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business and must be available to respond to urgent operational matters and after-hours calls when required.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, mentor, supervise, and hold accountable a team of technicians, tire technicians, service advisors, and support staff.
- Recruit, train, develop, and retain high-performing employees.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and corrective actions when required.
- Build a positive, productive, and safety-focused workplace culture.
- Manage scheduling, staffing levels, employee attendance, and productivity.
Operations Management
- Direct all daily shop operations to maximize efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor workflow and ensure jobs are completed safely, accurately, and on time.
- Establish performance goals and continuously improve shop processes.
- Ensure company policies, procedures, and standards are consistently followed.
Safety & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and enforce workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
- Promote a culture of safety accountability throughout the organization.
- Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements and all applicable regulations.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective action plans.
Business Performance
- Drive sales growth, profitability, and operational excellence.
- Analyze KPIs including labour efficiency, sales, gross profit, inventory turns, and customer satisfaction.
- Develop strategies to increase revenue and improve performance.
- Manage budgets and control expenses.
Reporting & Corporate Communication
- Prepare and submit regular operational and financial reports to Head Office.
- Communicate business performance, staffing requirements, safety matters, and operational challenges.
- Work collaboratively with senior leadership to achieve company goals and objectives.
- Implement corporate initiatives and strategic business plans.
Customer Service Excellence
- Maintain strong customer relationships.
- Resolve escalated customer concerns professionally and effectively.
- Ensure customers receive exceptional service and value.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of management experience in an automotive repair shop, tire center, heavy-duty repair facility, fleet maintenance operation, or related industry.
- Proven history of achieving operational, sales, and profitability targets.
- Demonstrated success leading and managing teams.
- Strong understanding of automotive repair and tire industry operations.
- Experience implementing and enforcing workplace safety programs.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Strong business acumen and financial management abilities.
- Proficiency with shop management software and Microsoft Office.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive Service Technician certification.
- Business management education or leadership training.
- Experience managing multiple departments or locations.
- Health and Safety certification considered an asset.
Availability Requirement
This leadership position requires flexibility and commitment to operational success. The successful candidate must:
- Be available for urgent after-hours calls and operational issues when necessary.
- Respond to emergency situations affecting employees, customers, equipment, or facility operations.
- Provide leadership support outside regular business hours as required.
