Job Summary
As Purchasing Coordinator, you'll be the vital link between our care home and the suppliers who keep our facility running smoothly — from medical and personal care equipment to dietary supplies and general operational materials. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on building strong supplier relationships, negotiating fair value, and keeping logistics running like clockwork in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate purchasing activities across multiple facilities to support day-to-day health care operations.
- Manage vendor relationships, evaluate supplier performance, and negotiate pricing terms.
- Utilize ERP systems like SAP and other supply chain software to process purchase orders and track procurement status.
- Conduct sourcing initiatives to identify reliable suppliers and secure competitive pricing.
- Monitor inventory levels using Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems to prevent shortages.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and maintain accurate documentation of transactions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, logistics, and quality assurance.
- Analyze market trends to inform sourcing strategies and cost-saving opportunities.
- Support supply chain optimization by evaluating vendor performance and implementing improvements.
- Provide responsive,
solution-focused customer service to internal departments and external partners.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in purchasing or procurement within a health care or related environment.
- Strong familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP and other supply chain management tools.
- Knowledge of vendor management practices, sourcing strategies, and negotiation techniques.
- Experience working with MRP systems to manage inventory levels effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for negotiating with vendors and collaborating internally.
- Ability to analyze pricing data and develop cost-effective procurement solutions.
- Understanding of supply chain processes, including logistics, inventory control, and procurement policies.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is considered an asset.
