Marine Construction Rigger – Pile Driving & Heavy Equipment
Full time, Year-Round | Work on Okanagan Lake
Want to build a career operating heavy equipment while working on the water?
Shoreline Pile Driving & Wharf Construction is looking for a Marine Construction Rigger to join our pile driving crew.
This is a hands-on position working at the front end of our floating pile-driving barges, directly alongside crane and excavator operators installing docks, piles and marine structures throughout the Okanagan.
For the right person, this position also offers an opportunity to work your way into an equipment operator role as you gain experience with our equipment, barges and pile-driving operations.
Experience with rigging, pile driving, cranes, heavy construction, marine construction or equipment operation is an asset. However, we are also interested in mechanically inclined candidates with strong construction experience who are eager to learn.

What You'll Do
- Work at the front end of floating pile-driving barges on Okanagan Lake
- Rig loads for cranes and excavators and communicate directly with equipment operators
- Assist with installation and removal of wood, steel and helical piles
- Connect, guide, position and disconnect loads during crane operations
- Assist with crane lifts,
demolition and removal work
- Handle rigging equipment including slings, shackles, chains and lifting hardware
- Use tag lines and hand signals to safely control loads
- Assist with dock, marina and marine structure construction
- Read basic construction drawings, measurements and layouts
- Operate boats and assist with positioning barges and equipment
- Inspect and maintain rigging, tools, barges and equipment
- Assist with welding, cutting and torching when qualified
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
- Work closely with operators, supervisors and other crew members
What We're Looking For
- Experience with rigging, cranes, pile driving, heavy equipment or heavy construction is preferred
- Comfortable working around large equipment and suspended loads
- Mechanically inclined with good hands-on construction skills
- Strong communication skills — especially when working with equipment operators
- Comfortable working on boats, barges and around water
- Able to understand measurements and basic construction drawings
- Safety-conscious and able to follow established procedures
- Physically capable of performing demanding outdoor construction work
- Reliable, hardworking and able to work effectively as part of a crew
- Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions
- Willing to learn and take on additional responsibility
Assets
- Previous pile-driving experience
- Crane or heavy-equipment rigging experience
- Excavator, crane or heavy-equipment operating experience
- Welding and torch-cutting experience
- Marine or boating experience
- Construction or mechanical background
- Valid equipment, rigging, first aid or safety certifications

Shoreline operates year-round constructing residential docks, commercial marine structures, marinas, breakwaters and other waterfront infrastructure throughout the Okanagan.
