Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Construction Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in managing the financial operations specific to construction projects, ensuring accuracy in accounting practices, and supporting the overall financial health of our organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in accounting principles, with specialized experience in construction-related financial processes. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing project budgets, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.

Key responsibilities include managing accounts payable and receivable, performing account reconciliations, preparing financial reports, and supporting audit activities. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to complex construction projects through diligent financial oversight and strategic analysis. Candidates with experience using various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

- Oversee accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors and subcontractors
- Manage accounts receivable functions, including invoicing clients and tracking outstanding balances
- Perform detailed account reconciliation and bank reconciliation to maintain financial accuracy
- Support project budgeting efforts by analyzing costs and monitoring variances
- Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions related to construction projects




- Assist with payroll processing and related tax filings
- Conduct auditing activities to ensure compliance with internal controls and industry regulations
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft for data entry and reporting
- Prepare detailed financial reports for project managers and executive leadership
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial procedures and reporting efficiency

Qualifications

- Proven experience as a Construction Accountant or in a similar role within the construction or real estate industry
- Strong proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft
- Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliation, and bank reconciliation processes
- Familiarity with budgeting, auditing, payroll management, and account analysis
- Solid understanding of construction industry financial practices and standards
- Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to interpret financial data accurately and communicate findings effectively
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
