We are searching, on behalf of our client, a custom equipment production facility located just west of the GTA, for an experienced Conventional Lathe & Mill Machinist for the Day shift. This position is for an experienced Machinist who enjoys working with their hands, self-motivated, attentive to detail, and takes pride in achieving performance excellence.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Interpret engineering drawings, procedures to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
- Preventative Maintenance of machines.
- Troubleshoot production drawings.
- Communicate with supervisors, engineers, production control, quality, and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
- Liaise with management to identify areas for improvement.
- Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with all provincial and federal laws, the Company ISO Quality Program and procedures, Company policies and Safety and Environmental Regulations.
- Verify dimensions of machined parts or tooling using micrometers, Vernier’s, calipers, height gauges or other specialized measuring instruments
- Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor
- Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports
- Other duties as assigned by Manager
Requirements:
- Physical:
- Sitting, Standing, and Walking.
- Carrying, Stooping, Lifting and Reaching.
- Lifting Requirements: Up to 50 pounds.
- Mental
- Mathematical: Advanced Math, including geometry and trigonometry.
- Language: The use of the English language, both Oral and Written.
- Requires daily communication with multiple departments to insure maximum efficiency
- Self-Starter
Education & Skills:
- Diploma in CNC Machining (Machinist) or 5 - 10 years equivalent experience in custom manufacturing machining
- Solid understanding of Metrology
- Can select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers, using commercially available tooling and products whenever possible.
- Keeps workstation clean and organized.
- Follows all established safety procedures and practices.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years conventional lathe.
- Minimum 3 years conventional mill.
- Overhead crane experience required.
Pay: $27.00-$32.00 per hour
Experience:
- CNC Lathe: 5 years (required)
- CNC Mill: 5 years (required)
