Responsible for managing the company’s accounts payable and (back up) payroll functions while maintaining accurate records and ensuring timely payment processing. This is a critical role that supports the smooth functioning of our financial operations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts Payable:

- Process, verify, and record vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare and process cheque runs and electronic payments for approved invoices.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies as required.
- Process accounts receivable transactions and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and process journal entries accurately and on a timely basis.
- Reconcile bank statements and other account balances.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Monitor cash flow and assist with budget tracking.
- Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Review financial transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Analyze financial information and investigate discrepancies or variances.
- Assist with the development and improvement of accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Maintain organized and accurate accounting records and files.

Payroll:

- Process bi-weekly Canadian and weekly U.S. payrolls accurately and on schedule.
- Review employee timecards and ensure accurate processing of wages, deductions, benefits, and other payroll adjustments.
- Calculate and process payroll taxes, benefits, and other required deductions and remittances.
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and other updates.
- Prepare payroll reports and supporting documentation for management, government agencies, and benefit providers.
- Ensure payroll processing and reporting comply with applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits.




- Support payroll-related accounting entries and reconciliations as required.
- General Accounting & Administrative Support
- Assist with internal and external audits by gathering and providing requested documentation.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting and financial issues.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and employee information.
- Ensure accounting and payroll records are complete, accurate, and readily accessible.
- Perform other accounting-related duties as required.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- PCP (Payroll Compliance Professional) designation a definite asset
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounts payable (Canada AND U.S) payroll, or a related role. Experience with accounting and Payroll software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, ADP or similar).
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing, accounts payable functions, and Canadian payroll regulations. Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and practices. Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel.
- Self starter - able to work without supervision
- Leadership experience a definite asset
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Robust problem-solving abilities and ability to work under deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.

Pay: $55,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
