Fountainhead Mechanical is growing, and we are looking for motivated HVAC/R Apprentice Service Technicians to join our commercial service team in Calgary.
We welcome applications from registered first, second, third, and fourth-year Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic apprentices.
This is a service-based position focused on diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing existing commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment. It is an excellent prospect to develop your technical, diagnostic, and customer-service skills while working alongside experienced journeyperson HVAC/R technicians.
As your skills develop, you will take on increasingly advanced service work with the guidance and support of qualified journeypersons.
Experienced apprentices who demonstrate strong technical ability, reliability, and commercial HVAC/R service experience may earn up to $50.00 per hour.

This position offers practical training and progressive responsibility throughout your apprenticeship.
You will have opportunities to develop experience with:

What You Will Do
Your responsibilities will grow based on your apprenticeship level, experience, and demonstrated ability.
- Assist with the diagnosis, service, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment
- Diagnose equipment problems under the direction of a qualified journeyperson
- Perform preventative maintenance and equipment inspections
- Assist with refrigerant circuit, compressor, airflow, electrical, and control diagnostics
- Service rooftop units, split systems, air handlers, make-up air units, unit heaters, and related equipment
- Assist with recovering, evacuating, charging, and verifying refrigeration systems
- Troubleshoot motors, fans, belts, bearings, pumps, valves, sensors, safeties, and control components
- Assist with equipment startups, system testing, and performance verification
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, control schematics, and equipment documentation
- Identify equipment issues and communicate findings to the supervising journeyperson
- Complete accurate service documentation and digital reports
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, dispatch, office staff, and teammates
- Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and an organized work area
- Follow applicable codes, refrigerant regulations, safety requirements, and company procedures
- Represent Fountainhead Mechanical's culture and values on every customer site
Who We Are Looking For
- Registered first, second, third, or fourth-year Alberta Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic apprentice
- Interest in building a career in commercial HVAC and refrigeration service
- Previous commercial HVAC, refrigeration, maintenance, or mechanical experience is considered an asset
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Willingness to develop advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Basic understanding of refrigerant circuits, electrical systems, airflow, and controls
- Ability to read or learn to read wiring diagrams, specifications, and equipment documentation
- Ability to follow instructions and apply feedback
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and dependable attendance
- Professional communication and customer-service skills
- Ability to work safely, independently, and as part of a team
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the HVAC/R trade
- Valid driver's licence and a clean, insurable driving record
- Ability to reliably commute to Calgary or relocate before starting work
A Gasfitter Class A or Gasfitter Class B certification is considered a strong asset.

Applicants considered for wages near the top of the range should demonstrate:
- Advanced standing in a registered HVAC/R apprenticeship
- Proven commercial HVAC and refrigeration service experience
- Strong refrigeration diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
- Strong electrical and control troubleshooting skills
- Experience with rooftop units, split systems, air handlers,
and make-up air units
- Experience completing preventative maintenance and equipment inspections
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, control schematics, and manufacturer documentation
- Strong customer communication and service documentation skills
- Ability to complete assigned service work efficiently with limited supervision
- Consistent commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism
