Foodbank Worker

TNO – The Neighbourhood Organization (TNO) is a well-established community-based social and health service agency providing a wide range of programs and services that support low-income and newcomer communities across Ontario, and in some cases, across different provinces through virtual services and referrals.

Position Summary

The TNO Food Collaborative, provides food support to families in the Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park communities. Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Food Service Worker supports the daily operations of the Food Collaborative by assisting with food distribution, inventory management, client services, and administrative functions. The successful candidate will help maintain accurate client records, support food distribution activities, collaborate with community agencies and partner organizations to facilitate referrals and enhance service delivery, and contribute to a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful workplace for clients, volunteers, and staff. The ideal candidate will have experience and/or education, or an equivalent combination, in social services, community development, education, recreation, nutrition, or a related field, along with experience working with newcomer, low-income, multicultural, and multilingual communities. Experience working within an anti-oppression and 2SLGBTQI+ positive framework, strong oral and written communication skills, and proficiency in languages relevant to the community are considered assets.





Duties and Responsibilities:

- Provide excellent customer service to new and existing Food Collaborative clients.
- Responsible to register clients and maintain accurate client records and databases.
- Assist with food distribution and client support during program operations.
- Receive, organize, stock, and rotate food and program supplies.
- Assist with deliveries, inventory counts, and maintaining inventory records.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe food storage and distribution area.
- Support administrative tasks, data entry, and record keeping.
- Oversee the scheduling and supervision of volunteers.
- Promote an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment for clients, volunteers, and staff.
- Act as a positive role model and support participants in a respectful and culturally responsive manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments, community agencies, food suppliers, and partner organizations to support food distribution, facilitate client referrals, and enhance service delivery.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience using office equipment, including photocopiers, scanners, printers, and other office technology.
- Experience with client databases is an asset.

the successful applicant must complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Job Type: Full-Time contract position until August 31, 2027

Rate of Pay: $26 per hour

Vacancy Status – This posting is to fill one (1) new position.

Work Location(s): 45 Overlea Blvd, Toronto, ON M4H 1B5, and other TNO locations as required.

Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with flexibility between 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., based on program and community needs. 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with shifts scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
