Modine Manufacturing is seeking a highly motivated Occupational Health Paramedic to support the health, safety, and wellness of employees within our manufacturing facility. Reporting to the EHS Manager, the Occupational Health Paramedic will provide on-site medical support, injury management, emergency response, health surveillance, and wellness initiatives while collaborating closely with Human Resources, Operations, and Environmental Health & Safety teams.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace by responding to medical incidents, supporting return-to-work programs, promoting preventative health measures, and ensuring compliance with occupational health requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Health & Medical Care
- Provide immediate assessment, treatment, and management of workplace injuries and illnesses.
- Deliver first aid and emergency medical response as required.
- Administer health screenings, monitoring programs, and medical surveillance initiatives.
- Maintain confidential employee medical records in accordance with privacy regulations.
- Evaluate non-emergency medical concerns and provide recommendations for appropriate follow-up care.
Occupational Health & Case Management
- Coordinate modified duty and return-to-work programs for injured employees.
- Monitor workplace injury cases and liaise with Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) representatives, healthcare providers, and management.
- Assist with injury prevention programs and ergonomic assessments.
- Support fitness-for-work evaluations and medical accommodations.
Emergency Response
- Serve as a key member of the site Emergency Response Team.
- Maintain emergency response equipment, first aid supplies, AEDs, and medical resources.
- Participate in emergency preparedness drills and response planning.
- Assist in developing site emergency response procedures and protocols.
Health Promotion & Wellness
- Develop and deliver health education and wellness initiatives.
- Promote injury prevention,
mental health awareness, and healthy workplace practices.
- Support employee wellness campaigns and occupational health programs.
EHS Collaboration
- Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Assist EHS leadership in identifying workplace health risks and recommending corrective actions.
- Support regulatory compliance related to occupational health standards.
- Maintain health-related documentation, reports, and program records.
Qualifications Required
- Licensed Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) or Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) in Alberta.
- Minimum 3 years of paramedic, occupational health, industrial, or emergency medical experience.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Strong knowledge of workplace injury management and occupational health practices.
- Ability to maintain medical confidentiality and professional ethics.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, oil & gas, construction, or heavy industry environments.
- Occupational Health Nursing, Disability Management, or Return-to-Work certification is considered an asset.
- Experience managing WCB claims and case files.
- Training in audiometric testing, spirometry, respiratory fit testing, or ergonomics is an asset.
- Mental Health First Aid certification is preferred.
