As we continue to grow, we are expanding our team with a Dental Assisting Program Instructor (“Instructor”).

The Instructor is responsible for delivering the curriculum and teaching KDM’s students as set out by the Executive Officer of Education and the Program Coordinator. This role is responsible for providing students with the clinical and didactic skills to gain employment and prepare students for the provincial and national licensing and registration process.



The Instructor will also ensure the curriculum as provided by the Program Coordinator is current and correct.

Required Skills and Education:

Responsibilities

- Develop and deliver engaging instructional materials for dental assisting courses, utilizing effective teaching methods and technology.
- Supervise and assess students' practical skills in laboratory settings, ensuring adherence to safety and patient care standards.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Stay updated on terminology and advancements in dental care to enhance curriculum relevance.
- Foster a supportive learning setting through strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Professional Experience

- Must have a minimum of five years of relevant work experience as a dental assistant, demonstrating a robust knowledge of practice and ability to communicate effectively on technique and process.
- Previous teaching experience or teaching knowledge through a continuing education program is an asset.
- Knowledge of, and affiliation with, relevant professional organizations such as CDAC, CADA, and NDAEB is an asset.
- Must have, or be prepared to work towards, an educator’s certificate.

Technical Qualifications

- Must carry the credentials and meet the standards required for the position by Alberta Learning and any other governing body that KDM is subject to regulation by.
- Current and valid Healthcare Provider CPR (adult, child, AED).
- Current and up-to-date vaccinations for hepatitis B, tetanus, diphtheria, measles, mumps, rubella and chicken pox.
- Must be able to produce a tuberculosis screening test.
- Comfortable working with a diverse group of students.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Patient communicator, ability to problem-solve and assist students in their learning.
- Strong work ethic.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $32.00 per hour

Experience:

- Dental assisting: 5 years (preferred)
