Calm School™ provides preventative mental wellness education for children ages 4–18. We help children build emotional awareness, confidence, healthy relationships, personal safety, resilience and essential life skills through engaging, developmentally appropriate experiences.
The Role
As a Social Emotional Learning Educator, you'll work directly with children, primarily in their homes throughout York Region and select GTA areas.
Calm School provides the child's developmental direction, curriculum and core standardized resources; you bring the learning to life through play, games, movement, art, conversation and your professional creativity.
Responsibilities include:
- Build warm, trusting and appropriately boundaried relationships with children
- Teach through play, games, conversation, movement, creativity and experiential activities
- Help children strengthen emotional intelligence, confidence, resilience and practical life skills
- Adapt activities to the child's age, interests, strengths and learning style
- Prepare thoughtfully for each session
- Provide brief, professional parent handoffs when appropriate
- Complete concise required documentation within 24 hours
- Communicate relevant observations and concerns to Calm School
- Participate in required Calm School training and uphold our curriculum, safeguarding and quality standards
Who We're Looking For
We're especially interested in experienced professionals with backgrounds such as:
- Early Childhood Education / RECE
- Ontario Certified Teaching
- Child & Youth Work
- Occupational Therapy
- Social Work
- Psychotherapy or counselling
- Montessori or Forest School education
- Related child-development and educational professions
Requirements
Applicants should have:
- In good standing with regulatory professional body
- Professional liability insurance appropriate to their work
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check or ability to obtain one
- Reliable transportation and ability to provide services in family homes
- First Aid/CPR is an asset.

Compensation & Flexibility
$75 per completed client session, including a 60-minute child session, brief preparation and concise documentation.
Educators typically begin with 1–2 children and can accept additional families as opportunities become available. You choose clients based on your availability and preferred service area.
