Job Summary

Safeway is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Assistant Meat Manager to support the leadership and daily operations of our Meat Department. Working alongside the Meat Manager, you will help drive sales, deliver exceptional customer service, maintain food safety standards, and lead a team committed to providing fresh, high-quality products.

This role is ideal for an experienced meat department professional looking to advance their leadership career in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Meat Department.
- Provide exceptional customer service and product knowledge.
- Support inventory management, ordering, receiving, and stock rotation.
- Ensure department standards for merchandising, cleanliness, freshness, and food safety are consistently maintained.
- Help manage department expenses, shrink, and profitability.
- Coach, train, and support department employees to achieve performance and service goals.
- Monitor product quality and ensure compliance with all food safety regulations.
- Execute weekly sales plans,



promotional programs, and seasonal displays.
- Act as department lead in the absence of the Meat Manager.

Qualifications

- Previous experience in a retail meat department required.
- Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of meat products, cutting standards, merchandising, and inventory control.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Robust organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in refrigerated environments.
- Food Safe Certification is considered an asset.

Pay: $20.67-$27.26 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
