The Automotive Service Technician inspects, maintains and repairs automobiles that run on electricity, gasoline or alternative fuels like ethanol. He/she executes basic care maintenance like tire rotations and oil changes, diagnosing complex problems and planning and executing vehicle repairs.

Job duties
- Test to check whether systems and components are secure and working properly.
- Isolate the systems or components that may have caused the problem.
- Drive the vehicle for testing purposes or using various equipment, including diagnostic computers.
- Maintain efficiency and accuracy in diagnosing as well as repairing vehicles.
- Repair or replace worn parts ahead of the vehicle’s breakdown or damage.
- Follow a checklist to ensure that each critical part of the vehicle is examined.
Requirements include:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- 310S license
- Professional demeanor
- Efficient problem-solving skills
- Ability to learn new technology and repair and service procedures and specifications, able to effectively communicate automotive issues clearly are important characteristics of the successful applicant.
Work conditions
- Manual dexterity required to complete maintenance and repairs
- Occasional lifting of items up to 100 lbs.
- Exposure to rust and other substances.
