Market & Store Demo Sales Representative
Slow Sunday Foods
Slow Sunday Foods makes sauces for meat from BC fruit. We sell through grocery stores, independent food retailers, farmers markets, and seasonal markets throughout British Columbia.
We're looking for an outgoing, reliable person to represent us at in-store demos in Vancouver and some seasonal markets.
The Role
The most important part of this job is simple: engage customers and get them to try our products.
You'll independently run demos and markets, actively approach customers, offer samples, explain our products, answer questions, and sell. At some demos, you may also prepare and serve easy food bites featuring our sauces.
This is not a passive sampling role. The right person enjoys talking to strangers, is comfortable initiating conversations throughout a shift, and brings positive energy even when things are quiet.
What You'll Do
- Run grocery-store demos and farmers markets independently.
- Proactively approach customers, offer samples, and sell.
- Explain our products, flavours, ingredients, and how to use them.
- Prepare and serve simple food samples when required.
- Transport, set up, organize, and pack down demo materials.
- Process market sales and handle cash accurately.
- Follow basic food-safety and cleanliness procedures.
- Share customer feedback, problems, and useful sales observations with management.
Who We're Looking For
Sales personality matters most. We're looking for someone who is engaging, friendly, confident, and comfortable starting conversations with people they don't know.
You also need to work well independently: prepare for assignments, arrive on time, stay organized, solve routine problems,
and get the job done without constant direction.
Previous sales experience is helpful but not required.
Availability
Store demos take place on weekday evenings and weekends, while markets are generally on weekends.
Applicants must be reliably available on weekends, with availability for 1–2 weekdays preferred. We're especially interested in people who can continue long term and potentially take on more work over time.
Students
Business and marketing students are encouraged to apply. The role provides hands-on experience in consumer sales, retail, customer research, merchandising, and growing a BC food brand.
Compensation
Starting wage is $21/hr, with the opportunity to increase rapidly — potentially within two weeks — based on performance and responsibility.
Additional commission and bonus opportunities are available during the Christmas and summer market seasons.
About Slow Sunday Foods
