Blackbird Security Inc. is seeking an experienced and driven Staff Accountant to join our team and play a key role in strengthening our financial operations as we continue to build and expand our company.

Role Summary

As a detail-oriented Staff Accountant you will be reporting to our National Financial Controller and Accounting Manager. This hybrid role offers the flexibility to work from home one day a week and four days at our Vancouver headquarters. You will be meticulous, possess excellent time-management skills, and have a solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:

- Maintain payroll records.
- Track and verify employee hours and adjustments.
- Perform day-to-day bookkeeping (A/P, A/R, bank reconciliation).
- Assist in preparing financial reports and month-end close.
- Review entries for accuracy and flag discrepancies.
- Support audits and reviews.
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
- Update and maintain the general ledger.
- Reconcile entries in the accounting system.
- Assist with and process bi-weekly payroll.
- Support A/R and A/P functions.
- Provide support to the Accounting Manager as required.
- Perform data entry and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

- 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in an accounting role.
- Post-secondary education in finance, accounting, or a related field is required.
- Ability to report to the Vancouver, BC office regularly or as needed.
- Preferred experience in public practice. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Suite and other accounting software is a plus
