Automotive Technician – Piece Rate / Flat Rate

Street 2 Track Performance Inc. is looking for a skilled and motivated Automotive Technician to join our team on a piece-work / flat-rate basis. This position is ideal for an experienced mechanic who is confident working independently, completing jobs efficiently, and earning based on the work completed.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Technician with strong knowledge of automotive repair, maintenance, diagnostics, and mechanical systems. The successful candidate will be paid per completed job based on an agreed labour rate, rather than an hourly wage.

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of makes and models, from routine maintenance and repairs to more advanced mechanical and performance work.

Compensation

- Piece-work / flat-rate pay — paid per completed job
- Labour rates are established based on the job and required work

Duties

- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, brake service, tire service, fluid services, and inspections
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems using scan tools and diagnostic equipment
- Perform brake, suspension, steering, exhaust, cooling, and drivetrain repairs
- Perform engine repairs and component replacement
- Perform transmission and driveline-related repairs
- Diagnose and repair electrical and starting/charging system issues
- Complete timing belt and timing chain repairs where qualified
- Perform vehicle disassembly and reassembly as required
- Install aftermarket and performance parts and components
- Use hand tools, power tools, specialty tools, and shop equipment safely
- Read and interpret repair procedures, service information, and technical specifications
- Perform quality-control checks after completing repairs
- Maintain a clean and organized work area




- Properly document work completed and parts used
- Identify additional mechanical concerns and communicate them to the service team
- Complete assigned jobs efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship
- Follow all applicable safety procedures and shop policies

Requirements & Skills

- Previous professional automotive technician/mechanic experience preferred
- Solid knowledge of automotive mechanical and electrical systems
- Ability to diagnose problems accurately and efficiently
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
- Strong experience using automotive hand and power tools
- Experience using professional diagnostic scan tools is an asset
- Ability to follow manufacturer repair procedures and technical information
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work efficiently in a flat-rate/piece-work environment
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to safely lift and handle automotive components
- Valid driver's licence is an asset
- Dealership or independent shop experience is an asset
- Performance, European, Japanese, domestic, or modified-vehicle experience is an asset
