About us

Urban International School (UIS) is a private high school in Toronto inspected by the Ontario Ministry of Education in Ontario, Canada. Over the last decade, we have offered specialized academic courses that are designed for students who wish to pursue higher education in Canada and around the world. Based on the program students wish to pursue in post-secondary school, UIS prepares a customized study plan that underlies one of our four streams: Engineering, Science/Math, Business, Arts or College. Most of our graduates are accepted in prestigious universities such as the University of Toronto, University of British Columbia, McGill University, among many other Canadian and international universities.

About the Position

We are currently hiring a long-term full-time Academic Support Assistant. This position is based in the Principal's Office and plays a key supporting role in the academic operations of the school. The ideal candidate will assist the Principal and Vice Principal in developing course plans, managing student records, and ensuring the smooth delivery of academic programs for students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. This position also involves leading the coordination of academic-related school events, supporting school-wide activities, and providing administrative assistance to the admission team as needed. The ideal candidate is a team player who is eager to learn, demonstrates a high level of professionalism, and respects organizational policies and procedures.



Proficiency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese is a robust asset.

Job Title: Academic Support Assistant

Responsibilities and Duties

- Assist the Principal and Vice Principal in developing and managing individual academic course plans for students
- Support student enrollment processes in compliance with school policies and procedures
- Maintain and organize digital and physical student records, including Ontario Student Records (OSR)
- Provide academic guidance and program information to current and prospective students and their families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
- Communicate with students and parents regarding academic progress, course selection, and overall school life
- Assist in preparing and delivering orientation and information sessions for prospective students
- Support course scheduling and timetabling for upcoming semesters in collaboration with the academic team
- Understand and apply knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum, OUAC, and OCAS systems
- Lead the planning and coordination of academic-related school events, including university fairs, IELTS Mock Tests, and official IELTS examinations hosted at the school
- Collaborate with all staff members in the preparation and execution of school-wide events, including graduation ceremonies, school festivals, talent shows,



and other student activities
- Support the administration and online supervision of the UHUB program under the direction of the Vice Principal, including monitoring students during online examinations
- Provide administrative support to the admission team as needed, including tasks such as invoicing, letters of acceptance, and document management
- Work collaboratively with other teams to support the principal and vice principal to ensure consistent student support
- Assist with classroom setup and equipment arrangement, including the reallocation and basic configuration of computers and devices, as directed by the Principal
- Attend and support staff and teacher meetings as directed by the Principal
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Vice Principal

Qualifications and Skills

- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese is a strong asset
- A degree in Education, Business, Languages, or a related field
- Previous experience in an educational or administrative setting is an asset, but not required
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Willingness to learn and grow within a school environment
- Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment
- Demonstrates a high level of professionalism with a strong respect for organizational policies, procedures, and workplace guidelines

Job Types: Permanent, Full-time

Pay: From $40,000.00 per year
