Job Summary:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead mechanical design on Building MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) services projects, working across commercial, institutional, and residential buildings. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will take ownership of mechanical design deliverables from concept through construction support, working closely with our Electrical Engineering, Design Production (CAD), and Project Management teams to deliver coordinated, code-compliant MEP designs.

You will act as a senior technical resource on your projects, mentoring junior engineers and EITs, reviewing drawings produced by our design production teams, and engaging directly with clients and contractors on technical matters. Experience with data centre mechanical/cooling design and residential building design is considered a strong asset.

Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical Design & Engineering

- Lead mechanical design for Building MEP services projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
- Design mechanical systems across a range of building types, including commercial, institutional, and residential facilities
- Prepare and review mechanical load calculations, equipment schedules, and system specifications
- Support data centre mechanical design where required, including cooling redundancy, CRAC/CRAH units, and chilled water systems

Code Compliance & Quality

- Ensure all mechanical designs comply with applicable building, mechanical, plumbing, and energy codes and standards
- Review mechanical drawings and deliverables produced by the Design Production (CAD) team for technical accuracy and code compliance
- Identify design issues, discrepancies, or code-compliance gaps and coordinate resolution with the design team

Cross-Disciplinary Coordination





- Coordinate closely with the Senior Electrical Engineer and electrical design team to ensure fully integrated MEP designs
- Coordinate with structural and other disciplines as needed to resolve interdisciplinary design conflicts
- Work with the Manager, Design Production (Canada) and design team to ensure drawings reflect design intent and project requirements

Project & Client Support

- Act as a senior technical point of contact for clients and contractors on mechanical design matters, including responding to RFIs
- Support proposal development and cost estimation for mechanical scope of work
- Conduct site visits and field reviews to verify installations align with design intent
- Identify work items beyond the original project scope and flag additional fee requirements to the project manager

Mentorship & Technical Leadership

- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, EITs, and designers on mechanical design projects
- Support the professional development and licensure progress of junior team members
- Contribute to the development of internal mechanical design standards and best practices

Qualifications

- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license, required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 10 years of relevant mechanical engineering design experience, ideally within Building MEP services
- Data centre mechanical/cooling design experience considered a strong asset
- Residential building design experience considered a solid asset
- Strong knowledge of applicable building, mechanical, plumbing, and energy codes and standards (e.g., Ontario Building Code, ASHRAE)
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience engaging directly with clients and contractors

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
